accommodating better health in colchester and tendring

Realise Health Ltd is a company set up by the Colchester and Tendring Primary Care Trusts in partnership with the Mill Group and Partnerships for Health under the Government LIFT initiative to construct and manage new facilities for the delivery of health care in Colchester and Tendring.

The company will be responsible, during the next 20 years, for overseeing the biggest transformation in healthcare facilities the area has ever witnessed, under the NHS LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) initiative.

Colchester and Tendring Primary Care Trusts were successful in securing millions of pounds worth of funding following a successful joint application to the Department of Health. Representatives from the two PCTs and other local health and Social Services professionals will now work with the chosen private sector partner, The Mill Group, to start developing a number of new healthcare facilities.

The first two projects, already under construction, are the new Harwich Hospital and Dovercourt Health Centre and the new Primary Care Centre in Colchester. These two major projects, along with the development of a health centre in the Great Clacton/Holland-on-Sea area and the Bluebell Surgery in Highwoods, Colchester, form the first wave of improvements to be carried out and financed under the LIFT initiative Dr Sue O'Connell, a former director of Realise Health Ltd, said: "The creation of Realise Health Ltd marks a very significant phase in what are hugely exciting developments for local healthcare."
