Colchester Primary Care Centre
The 'Topping out' ceremony at the Colchester Primary Care centre took place on 13th July 2005.

Chairman of the Colchester Primary Care Trust - Maggie Shackell, together with Mike Andrews Chairman of Realise Health and Richard Marsh of Gleeson, watched by a small audience of invited guests, laid the final slab on the roof of the new building in brilliant sunshine almost twelve months to the day after the contracts for the new Colchester and Tendring LIFT were signed.
Richard Marsh of Gleesons told the gathering "On behalf of Gleeson, I would just like to say how pleased we are to be associated with the new Colchester PCC, which I am sure will provide a wonderful centre for delivering Primary Care to the community of Colchester and beyond. It is not often that a Contractor can claim to be ahead of programme. On this Project, I am glad to say we are, and we intend to stay in this position by handing over the new facility well in advance of next April’s Contract Completion Date. Well, how have we managed to get in to this advantageous position? The main reason can be put down to REAL Teamwork and a genuine desire by all members of the Team to make things happen – ‘a real can do attitude’."
He stressed that the PCT, the LIFT Project Team and Realise Health had worked together with them which had been critical to the success of the construction works to date.
Colchester PCT Chairman, Maggie Shackell, said: "Patients and families will always be at the centre of our planning and the development of the new Colchester Primary Care Centre is a key part the Trust¹s commitment to providing quality primary health care facilities and community services in the 21st century.
"I am delighted to be asked to perform this ceremony marking the completion of the exterior of the building ahead of schedule and look forward to seeing it in use by local people early next year."
Following the ceremony guests were taken on escorted tours of the building by the Gleeson Team.
